Children’s Literature Graduate Organization – CLGO
CLGO is an interdisciplinary UNC Charlotte graduate organization that encourages students to come together in a shared love for children’s literature, regardless of concentration. Through monthly meetings, we provide opportunities for our members to learn about the field of children’s literature, explore career options, prepare for conferences, and attend social events that surround our passion for the field.
The CLGO has partnered with the English Graduate Student Association to hold a joint graduate student conference on January 31, 2019.
We hope to continue volunteering both on campus and in the greater Charlotte community and to continue sponsoring fun informative events. The 2019-2020 year looks very promising, and we look forward to seeing all of you at upcoming events.

Hi, everyone. My name is Mikayla, and I am excited to serve as your CLGO President this year. I am a second year Graduate Assistant pursuing my Master’s in English with an emphasis in Children’s Literature. I am excited to teach a course this year on Children’s Gothic/Horror Literature. When I’m not studying, I can be found perusing bookstores, drinking coffee, or playing music. Hi, everyone! I’m Makayla, and I will be your CLGO Vice President this year. I am a second year graduate student, and I am pursuing my Master’s in English with a focus on Children’s Literature. I graduated from UNC Charlotte last spring with my B.A. in English. When I’m not studying, I love going to coffee shops, bookstores, and wineries. Greetings. everyone! My name is Candice Cowan, but I go by C.J. I will be your CLGO Secretary this year. I am a first-year graduate student, and I am pursuing my Master’s in English with a focus in Children’s Literature. I graduated from Arizona State University last December with my B.A. in English and a minor in Anthropology. I am fueled by tea, wine, and cheese. Hello! I am Kalei Woodford. I’m the treasurer for CGLO. I am a first year masters student in English with a concentration in children’s literature. I graduated from UNC Charlotte last spring with a BA in history and English with a concentration in literature and culture.  | Trina Rumfelt, GPSG Senator Hi Everyone! My name is Trina Rumfelt and I am excited to serve as CLGO Senator this year! I am a first year English graduate and a second year Religious Studies graduate pursuing both degrees in order to enhance both B.A. degrees in English and Religious Studies by not only being professionally educated with the degrees, but to also gain insightful knowledge within the different concentration levels of religious studies and children’s literary concepts that encompasses the culture and lives of many different people of all ages throughout the world. I received both my English and Religious Studies undergraduate degrees from the UNC Charlotte and graduated with Honors Distinction. My future career plans are to engage myself by learning from others while educating students worldwide. My background has always been to meet new people while seeking to continuously educate myself.
