Professor Emerita Dr. Boyd Davis was recently recognized with an 8 over 80 award, which honors eight extraordinary individuals over the age of 80 who have made a significant impact in the Charlotte Mecklenburg region. Dr. Davis was a faculty member in the English Department for 50 years before retiring in 2020. She is a prolific scholar and continues to publish research on linguistics-related topics. Her research from the past two decades has focused primarily on the discourse of individuals with dementia and their interactions with caretakers.
