Janaka Lewis & Mark West Receive Awards

The Department of English is very proud to announce that two of the faculty have earned professorships in teaching and civic engagement. Professor Janaka Bowman Lewis, beloved by students and colleagues alike, is the the recipient of the Bonnie E. Cone Early-Career Professorship in Teaching, a distinction that is timely and well deserved. Mark West, the current Chair of English, and an indefatigable teacher, innovator, and public intellectual has been named the Bonnie E. Cone Professor in Civic Engagement. Congratulation to both recipients who exemplify the very best qualities of scholarship, teaching, and outreach.
