Categories: Uncategorized

Congratulations to Jeffrey Leak who is one of the editors of the special online issue of the Journal of Higher Education Management that addressed higher education and the “twin pandemics” of COVID-19 and racial issues. Together with his editors he received the Christine Cavanaugh Award for Leadership in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from the American Association of University Administrators (AAUA). Jeffrey and co-editors Juanita Cole, Dean of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, California State University at Monterey Bay, and Edward Martinez, Director of the ARMAS Center, New Mexico Highlands University, will be recognized at an AAUA event in Miami in June. In honoring the issue, the committee wrote the following: “As evidence of their commitment to leading considerations of diversity and equity in the issue which they jointly edited, they jointly wrote, ‘The events over the past year [racially-focused, large group social protests] underscore the prevalence of systemic racism in America today and the inextricable role higher education must play in the solution.’
